April 28, 2009, talkhousemag.com Senator Arlen Specter announces that he will switch political parties from Rep. to Dem. He said, "Since my election in 1980, as part of the Reagan Big Tent, the Republican Party has moved far to the right. Last year, more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration to become Democrats. I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans." Flippity flop. {youtubejw}y7zUzFlKCQk{/youtubejw}

April 27, 2009, talkhousemag.com Here's a clip of Al Gore from Friday at a hearing about cap-and-trade shenanigans. He's a partner in a $1 billion company that will benefit from it, so he nicely defended himself. {youtubejw}LMJ3Xow9ZGM{/youtubejw}

April 27, 2009, talkhousemag.com GradeGov.com is in its infancy, but will it will definitely be a good tool down the line. Anyone can sign up to grade members of congress and write letters to local and national representatives. The grading is on an A to F scale and you'll notice that people don't hold anything back when they comment. Anyone up for reelection soon should be worried. The tool may replace a lot of polling methods in years to come. Who knows?

March 10, 2009 talkhousemag.com Yesterday, President Obama encouraged researchers to continue using science and not ideology as past President Bush said. He made it clear that facts produce results and not individual views on certain matters. Stem cell research, for instance, should be taken seriously because its capabilities are endless. It can cure paralysis, diabetes, and many things in-between. Why would anyone not allow for research of this kind to take place? Are scientists playing God? Get real. If we have the ability to lift people out of wheelchairs, then why wouldn't we do it? Here are a few blurbs: "It is about ensuring that scientific data is never distorted or concealed to serve a political agenda — and that we make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology." It "is about letting scientists like those here today do their jobs, free from manipulation or coercion, and listening to what they tell us, even when it's inconvenient — especially when it's inconvenient." FYI, President Obama also continued to say that the stem cell research policy states that it will never be used for the cloning of humans. It "is dangerous, profoundly wrong, and has no place in our society or any society."
