January 28, 2009 Below is a letter that my friend Lyle Yurko wrote me about his experience during the inauguration weekend. O-ba-maaaaa! A Call For Service Is Answered It was my great privilege to be asked to address the Inaugural Gala sponsored by the National Black Chamber of Commerce and The National Newspapers Publishers Association Foundation held at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. on January 19, 2009, benefiting the John H. Johnson School of Journalism at Howard University. I chose to salute America by presenting a rhetorical reading of Abraham Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address, placing added emphasis on the passage where he asked Americans to "Bind up our nation's wounds" noting the relevance of those words to the crisis in America facing our citizens and President Obama in 2009.

January 27, 2009 Sarah Palin has just become the chair of her own Political Action Committee (PAC). The PAC is formatted to raise capital for local and national candidates. It's no surprise to hear from her so soon after the Republican Party's botched campaign in 2008. She has to be certain to remain in the spotlight so her "fame" doesn't fade away like a blip on the screen. One thing is certain. Palin will have gain knowledge about national and international issues. She will have to be more than well versed; she will have to become - pause- credible. Her PAC states that they are “dedicated to building America’s future, supporting fresh ideas and candidates who share our vision for reform and innovation." Sounds like a plan.

President Barack Obama last week spent his first days in the White House attempting to re-establish America’s global image as a democratic and civilized nation by reversing a host of policies and programs implemented during the eight years of the Bush administration. Among the executive orders signed by the nation’s first African American president was one closing the notorious U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He also directed the CIA to shut down its network of secret prisons scattered around the world and he barred any U.S. government agency from engaging in the torture of suspected terrorists.

The Rule of Law and the US Constitution are sacred codes for our society. We must protect them to ensure our democracy and guarantee equal protection under the law for all of us. Anything less is chaos and tyranny. My fellow citizens we have been threatened with chaos and tyranny during the last three Attorney Generals. The office of the Attorney General is one of the four most important cabinet positions along with Treasury, State and Defense. Proper execution of its duties and the management by its executives is key to our future and our image throughout the world. The United States is supposed to be the model for values and liberty. Our leadership role is at risk.

This article was written a few days before the Presidential Election. The following is risky but I am a man of extreme faith.
I had a confession to make to my dear wife, Kay. We are quite open and transparent with our expenses and revenue. But I had been keeping something from her for a couple of days. I finally blurted out “I gave the maximum to the Obama Campaign fund”.
She immediately replied with glee, “I did too! I did it last week.”
We hugged. I then called my two sons and asked if they had given to the Obama Campaign. They responded with, “Hasn’t everyone, why of course Dad?”
So it is this new phenomenon that is encompassing the entire globe. The excitement and euphoria that a person of color shall be elected the leader of the entire free world has 75% (according to the Washington Post) of the international world hoping and praying for the election of Barack Hussein Obama.
